21 DAYS OF PRAYER & FASTING
2 Chronicles 7:14
If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
The way we begin always matters. Both now and forever, we will be a pray first people--the kind of church that makes God's presence our first priority. At Zion, prayer isn't our last resort, but rather our first response. It's who we are--a people that seek God's face, knowing that prayer changes everything.
Our 21 Days of Prayer and Fasting is about putting first things first. Together, we faithfully seek God first, trusting in His power alone to create lasting impact in our lives, our church, and our world.
The goal of fasting is to draw nearer to God. Biblical fasting always has to do with eliminating distractions for a spiritual purpose; it hits the reset button of our soul and renews us from the inside out. It also enables us to celebrate the goodness and mercy of God and prepares our hearts for all the good things God desires to bring into our lives.

Types of Fast
Your personal fast should present a level of challenge, but it is very important to know your body, your options, and most importantly, to seek God in prayer and follow what the Holy Spirit leads you to do. If it means something to you, it means something to God.
In this type of fast, you drink only liquids, typically water with light juices as an option. An option could be doing a complete fast for the first or last three days of the fast.
This type of fast involves removing certain elements from your diet. One example of a selective fast is the Daniel Fast, during which you remove meat, sweets, and bread from your diet and consume water and juice for fluids and fruits and vegetables for food.
This fast involves abstaining from eating any type of food in the morning and afternoon. This can either correlate to specific times of the day, such as 6:00 am to 3:00 pm, or from sunup to sundown.
This fast is common for those who do not have much experience fasting foods, who have health issues that prevent the fasting of food, or who wish to refocus certain areas of their life that are out of balance. For instance, someone might select to abstain from using social media (Instagram, Facebook, etc.) or watching television (Netflix, etc.) for the duration of the fast—and then choosing how to carefully bring that element back into their life in an orderly fashion.
